An Enchanting Town in Italy’s Marche Region
Fermo is a town, comune, and more recently a province in the Marche Region of Italy. Prior to becoming an autonomous province Fermo was located in the Province of Ascoli Piceno.
Fermo is well known for its main piazza known as the Piazza Comunale. It hosts a statue of Pope Sixtus.
The main sights of Fermo include the main cathedral reconstructed in 1227, the remains of a Roman ampitheater and the church of San Francesco.
Fermo is a hillside town sitting inland from the Adriatic Sea. Two nearby beach communities include Lido di Fermo and Porto San Giorgio.
To the south of Fermo lies the Italian Region of Abruzzo. Important villages in this region include Valle San Giovanni , Cesacastina, Macchia Vomano and Basciano.
